EXPERIMENTAL ENCAUSTIC COLLAGE

(Includes a 1-hour lunch…There is a refrigerator & microwave available, for students who wish to bring their own lunch. There are also restaurants nearby to enjoy.)
This workshop is very experimental. If you are a collage artist or love encaustics or a little of both or are completely new to this game of encaustic and collage – come on out and have some fun! This class is all about trying some new techniques, discovering a new medium and just meeting others that have the same zest for creativity! We will be working with paper and panels, encaustic medium, paints and heat guns. We will carve, dip and layer paint while working with a variety of papers and collage items.
All materials, equipment and paint will be provided…there is a $15 kit fee per student.
You may want to bring along a selection of items that mean something to you to incorporate into your work such as photos, collage parts and pieces, old paintings, wire, beads, buttons, magazines, postcards etc. We will make new art out of found objects and give them new life through encaustic!
Suggested additional supplies:
• We will also be working on paper, so any watercolor, printmaking or fairly sturdy paper you have in your stash – bring along!
• Collage items and found materials: Anything you would like to incorporate such as old paintings, wire, beads, buttons, magazines, postcards.
• Carving tools: razor blades, sculpture tools, palette knives, cookie cutters.
• Rags and wax paper
• Heat gun (I will have at least three to share)
