2019 Annual Art Show
The Sanford Brush & Palette Club’s 55th Annual Art Show was held October 19th to 26th at the Bob E. Hales Center, 147 McIver Street in Sanford. This year’s show featured 461 pieces of art work by 68 artists in 17 different categories in the Competition Gallery (plus 562 art pieces in the Sales Gallery).
This year’s artwork was judged by the team of Carolyn Blaylock and Lynda Harris. A graduate of the University of Georgia majoring in advertising design, Blaylock spent several years in advertising before devoting herself to painting. A student of the American and California impressionists, Blaylock concentrates on conveying the effects of color and light on forms. She and her husband travel often to capture the personality of colorful places, especially France, and particularly Monet’s garden in Giverny. Her paintings hang in many private and corporate collections. She also jurors shows and teaches workshops.
Harris is a graduate from NC State with a Master’s in Landscape Architecture. Although she drew with pen and rendered detailed landscape drawings with markers and pastel pencils, she never translated her talent into painting until she retired. Her passion for design and gardening has led to painting with a focus on landscapes. She has a permanent exhibition at 311 Gallery, 311 W Martin St. Raleigh, NC and exhibits at the Mattie King Davis Gallery in Beaufort, NC.
The SBPC thanks all of our members who entered the show and sends a special “thank you” to all our art show volunteers, patrons and sponsors! You made this a fabulous show! ♥
